Data Recovery:
Where do I send my drive?
You don’t. If you’re in the Cleveland, Akron or Northern Ohio area, we will meet you and collect the drive in person. We don’t believe in shipping it anywhere. As it already has a problem, we don’t want to risk a shipping service damaging it more than it already is.
How much does it cost to recover data?
Drives fail in different ways and all drives can have different levels of corruption, hardware issues as well as amounts of data that needs saved from them. So without evaluating it, we can’t know the extent of work that your drive will need for recovery.
We do not believe in flat-rate charges as they are usually designed to turn every part of a failure situation into a worst case scenario. Often, this isn’t the case and the situation is not as bad as that and the work needed, far less costly than a worst case situation. We do charge a minimum, one time charge, of $190 per drive to meet you for drive pickup and then fully inspect, test and diagnose the drive. Only then can we firmly quote you for the final and total recovery charges plus offer you the probability of how good the expected recovery should be. The average however, based generally on software or corruption issues alone, usually fall between around $300 to $600. If the drive has more complicated issues and/or mechanical issues of any kind, the recovery costs will be higher.
Multi-Drive RAID/data server or trauma issues such as falling, water or smoke damage will require a more comprehensive quote.
Where will my recovered data be put?
Recovered data will be copied to a new flash drive or USB backup hard drive depending on the required size needed when the project is completed.
How long will it take?
We usually try to have basic diagnostics and the drive evaluation done within a few days with your final quote. Upon approval, the overall process will take on average about 1-2 weeks, depending on how your drive cooperates, as well as how our work load looks.
Can you rush this project?
Yes, our rush project fee will reduce the turn-a-round time to usually about 1 week or less. We have a one time, non-refundable, rush project fee of $349.
Is there any guarantees?
Unfortunately, there are no 100% guarantees in this process and no one can tell you otherwise. But we’ll always do our best on a recovery. It’s a very complicated and complex process with way to many variables. But we are pretty good at this and often do get back most of the data from most of the non-trauma related drives and situations. Trauma situations are sometimes more questionable for great recoveries.
It’s always possible in all recovery situations that some file, folder or index structure corruption may occur. How much or how little, or if any, is not always known, nor can we check for this on all our projects or on all your files. Sometimes our software will report this, but not always.
Will I be charged if my data is not recovered?
If we are unable to recover any of your data, then you will not be charged for any amount over the minimum diagnostics fee of $190. No matter what we estimated the costs to be and no matter how much time we spent trying to get the data back. If we get nothing, you pay nothing additional.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to us. We will get back to you immediately and be glad to assist you.
